Rookie star Luka Doncic was ruled out of the Dallas Mavericks' Friday home game against the Denver Nuggets due to a sore right ankle. Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said prior to the game that the injury is not expected to be serious, and that Doncic will be listed as day-to-day.

Dallas, which returned from the All-Star break Friday, next heads on the road for two games, Saturday against the Utah Jazz and Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers. Doncic ranks among the favorites for NBA Rookie of the Year. The 19-year-old Slovenian is averaging 20.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. He leads the league's rookies in scoring and is second in both rebounds and assists.
