The Association of Terror Victims in Kashmir (ATVK) has decried the reported killing of civilians and alleged excessive force by Pakistani authorities in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), asserting such actions constitute severe human rights violations. In a formal memorandum, ATVK highlighted its concerns about civilian casualties and purported abuses during recent protests.

Human rights activist and ATVK Chairperson Tasleema Akhter criticized the force used on peaceful demonstrators as 'heinous' and unacceptable, urging international organizations to address the situation promptly. The memorandum called for a neutral evaluation and accountability measures for the violence reported.

The ATVK stressed that the protection of civilians and peaceful protestors' rights under international standards is imperative. They appealed to the United Nations for intervention, advocating for steps to prevent further violence and provide security for civilians in the region. Additionally, they urged international stakeholders to uphold human dignity and justice.

Amnesty International has also condemned Pakistan's crackdown on PoJK protests, accusing authorities of excessive force and stifling dissent before regional elections. They criticized the move to label the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee as a 'proscribed organisation' under anti-terror laws.
