In a significant political development, the Supreme Court is set to hear Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan's writ petition challenging the rejection of her Rajya Sabha nomination on Friday. The case, listed as item number 53 in Court 6, questions the returning officer's decision to dismiss her nomination.

This legal move follows the rejection of Natarajan's nomination by electoral authorities, who cited alleged irregularities in her election affidavit. The decision has sparked protests from the Congress party, which accuses the Election Commission of acting unfairly. Earlier this week, a 10-member Congress delegation met with the Chief Election Commissioner to express their concerns over the issue.

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, lashed out at the Election Commission and the BJP on Thursday, alleging a 'jugalbandi' between the two. He claimed that the Rajya Sabha elections had been predetermined due to what he termed as 'seat chori'. Gandhi highlighted Natarajan's case and drew parallels with Parimal Nathwani, a BJP-backed candidate whose errors in nomination were permitted to be rectified.
