Irish PM to make statement on legally binding Brexit assurances

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar will make a statement early on Tuesday on the legally binding Brexit assurances Britain won from the European Union on Monday, his transport minister said following a late-night Cabinet meeting.

"Everybody here is hoping it (the withdrawal agreement) will go through the House of Commons tomorrow. We don't want to say anything that will in any way distract from that," Shane Ross told reporters after the second of two Cabinet meetings.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said earlier on Monday that he had spoken to Varadkar, who was prepared to accept the agreed solution in the interest of securing an overall deal.
