Lightning D Coburn signs two-year deal

Lightning defenseman Braydon Coburn signed a two-year, $3.4 million contract to remain in Tampa Bay. The contract, formally announced Tuesday, keeps the 34-year-old from free agency on July 1.

"Being part of this team and this organization has been an honour since I got here," Coburn said. "This is home for us. We love Tampa and we love everything it encompasses. We feel like we have an unbelievable team here and I want to be a part of it. I feel like there's some unfinished business and I really wanted to be a part of that." In 74 games with the Lightning last season, Coburn had four goals and 19 assists.

The 14-year veteran has 228 career points with three teams. He was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers with the No. 8 pick in the 2003 NHL Draft and played with the Philadelphia Flyers before landing in Tampa Bay.
