The group that hands out the Oscars said on Monday it had invited 842 new members from 59 countries including Lady Gaga, Sterling K. British singer Cliff Richard joined forces with other high profile figures in the media on Monday to demand that those people accused of sexual offences are given anonymity until they are charged. Richard, 78, one of Britain's best known entertainers, was investigated by police over allegations of historical child sex offences but cleared in 2016. He successfully sued the BBC after the corporation broadcast a police raid on his house.

Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber at odds in spat over her music catalogue

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has attacked Justin Bieber's manager for buying her music catalogue, prompting Bieber to come to his defence in a heated online spat that has drawn in several top figures in the music industry. Swift on Sunday wrote a lengthy post on Tumblr voicing dismay that Scooter Braun, the manager for Bieber as well as Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato, was acquiring Big Machine, the Nashville-based record company that owns the master recordings of her past songs.
