EU Commission head stands by Jourova over Hungarian jibe - spokesperson

The European Commission's head has "full trust" in her deputy, Czech Values and Transparency Commissioner Vera Jourova, a spokeswoman for the EU's executive in Brussels said on Tuesday after Hungary called for her resignation over rule of law rows. "(Commission) President (Ursula) von der Leyen works closely with Vice-President Jourova on the rule of law.

The European Commission's head has "full trust" in her deputy, Czech Values and Transparency Commissioner Vera Jourova, a spokeswoman for the EU's executive in Brussels said on Tuesday after Hungary called for her resignation over rule of law rows.

"(Commission) President (Ursula) von der Leyen works closely with Vice-President Jourova on the rule of law. The Vice-President has the President's full trust," a spokeswoman for the Commission told a news briefing.

"Our concerns when it comes to the rule of law in Hungary are well known. They will be addressed in our Rule of Law Report, which we will present tomorrow. In this report, we assesses the situation in all Member States."
