2 arrested for drunken brawl in Delhi's Seemapuri

Police has arrested two men for engaging in a row in drunken state that led to three people getting injured in Seemapuri area of Shahdara here, a senior officer said on Saturday.
Besides the two men, who are both neighbours, a woman was also injured in the altercation that arose over the issue of a verbal abuse.
Veeru (32) and Shezhad (22) were under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place on Friday night in Kalandar Colony of Seemapuri area.
Both men have been arrested in connection with the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahadra) R Sathiyasundaram said.
According to police, the quarrel began when a drunk Veeru started abusing his neighbour Shezhad, who was also in an inebriated state.
Both the men got into a fight, and as the situation escalated, Veeru's sister-in-law Pushpa joined in to support him, while another neighbour Meenakshi took the side of Shezhad, the officer said.
During the quarrel, both the men and Pushpa sustained injuries and were taken to GTB Hospital for medical treatment, he said.
''Based on our enquiry, we filed an FIR under Section 160 (punishment for committing affray) of the Indian Penal Code against the four people involved in the quarrel and arrested both Veeru and Shezhad in connection with the incident,'' he said.
