A couple was arrested on Thursday after 3.5 kg of illegal drugs was found in their apartment in Salt Lake near Kolkata, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) raided the apartment in Sukantanagar on Wednesday evening and it continued overnight, they said.
In the raid, Rs 5.5 lakhs in cash and 3.5 kg of illegal drugs were found in the apartment. From an adjacent flat, some goats were also seized, they added.
The man and the woman were known in the area as traders who deal in goats, police said.
The STF also seized several containers of chemicals, believed to be used for manufacturing the drugs, they said.
''We believe that there are other people involved in it. We have also seized the goats they had kept in another flat, which they had taken on rent,'' an official said.
A case has been registered at the Bidhannagar South police station, and an investigation is underway, he said.
