EU carries out cartel inspections in energy drink sector

The European Commission on Tuesday said it had started unannounced inspections at the premises of a company active in the energy drinks sector.

It said the unnamed company, which is active in various EU member states, might have violated EU antitrust rules that prohibit cartels and the abuse of dominant market positions.

Unannounced inspections are a preliminary step in an investigation into anticompetitive practices, and do not mean that the company is guilty, the commission said.
