China, Japan's defence ministers hold call via maritime-air liaison line

China and Japan's defence ministers held their first phone call via a direct telephone line under the maritime-air liaison mechanism on Tuesday, China's defence ministry said.
The activation of the direct line will strengthen both sides' capacity to control maritime and air crises, and help further maintain regional peace and stability, the ministry said.
