Russia told US on Jan 9 that an American had been detained -State Dept

The Russian ministry of internal affairs informed the United States on Tuesday that an American citizen had been arrested, U.S. State Department spokesman Vedant Patel told a briefing on Thursday.

Patel made his remarks when asked about a statement from a Moscow court, which said on Tuesday that Robert Romanov Woodland had been detained on drugs charges which can carry up to 20 years in prison.
