DDA's Bold Step: Clearing Yamuna Floodplains of Illegal Structures

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) removed five illegal constructions, including a religious structure, from the Yamuna floodplains to develop the Vasudev Ghat area. The drive, following Delhi High Court’s orders, was supported by police and aimed at ecological restoration and reclaiming land from encroachers.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has taken decisive action by removing five illegal constructions, including a religious structure, from the Yamuna floodplains. This initiative is a part of the DDA's broader mission to develop the Vasudev Ghat area.

The anti-encroachment drive, conducted near Nigam Bodh Ghat, follows a Delhi High Court judgement issued on Friday. According to the DDA, the operation led to the removal of two 'pucca' structures, two semi-'pucca' structures, and one religious shrine.

Earlier in the week, a similar drive near the ISBT bridge also resulted in the removal of unauthorized structures, furthering the Vasudev Ghat project. The DDA emphasized that these operations were carried out with police assistance and in compliance with approved guidelines, highlighting efforts to restore the Yamuna floodplains both ecologically and legally.
