Security Forces Conduct Extensive Search Operations in J&K's Samba and Poonch Districts

Security forces have launched extensive search operations in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba and Poonch districts due to reports of suspicious activities. Police and the Special Operations Group are conducting coordinated searches, especially in forested regions, to locate suspected terrorists. Heightened security measures are in place ahead of vote counting on June 4.

Security forces initiated expansive search operations in both Samba and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, triggered by reports of suspicious activities, according to officials.

Reacting to sightings of two suspicious individuals in Samba's Purmandal area, police undertook a comprehensive search mission covering numerous zones, including wooded areas. However, no substantial evidence has emerged yet.

In a synchronized venture, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Poonch, along with other security units, is executing a joint search in Bufliaz's dense Marha forest, officials disclosed.

This operation was sparked by reports of alleged terrorists in the Dera Ki Gali area received on Friday.

Officials stated that the chief objective is to locate suspected terrorists thought to be hiding locally. They further noted that these actions come in the wake of increased security concerns following recent terrorist encounters.

Security protocols have been intensified across Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba districts in anticipation of vote counting scheduled for June 4.
