Six Booked for Defamatory Social Media Posts Against Panvel Lawyer

In Panvel, Navi Mumbai, six individuals have been booked for allegedly posting objectionable content against a local lawyer on social media, according to a police official on Friday.

The accused have been charged under the Protection of Civil Rights Act 1955, the Maharashtra Protection of People from Social Boycott (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, and various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Charges include defamation, criminal conspiracy, and provocation with intent to cause breach of peace.

The social media posts were related to the lawyer's comments on the recent Lok Sabha elections. As of now, no arrests have been made, confirmed the Panvel Town police station official.
