Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district witnessed a major breakthrough in the fight against Naxalism as security forces eliminated six formidable members of the outlawed group during an intense encounter on Friday.
The slain Naxalites, carrying a cumulative bounty of Rs 38 lakh, included top commanders from the Communist Party of India (Maoist). The firefight, which erupted in the forests near Gobel and Thulthuli villages, lasted several hours, forcing many Naxalites to flee into dense forestry.
The expansive operation involved elite units from the District Reserve Guard, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, and Central Reserve Police Force. Notably, this marks the largest strike on the notorious 'company no. 6' division, dealing a severe blow to Naxalite operations in Bastar division. Authorities urge remaining Naxalites to abandon their violent pursuits and integrate into mainstream society.
