Nine people lost their lives and 33 sustained injuries in a terrorist ambush on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Sunday evening, according to a senior police officer.
The attack happened as the bus traveled from Shiv Khori temple to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, near Teryath village in the Poni area. Following gunfire around 6:15 pm, the 53-seater bus veered off the road into a gorge.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Mohita Sharma stated that preliminary reports suggest the terrorists laid an ambush and opened fire, leading the driver to lose control. Rescue operations have concluded, with nine casualties and 33 injured, who have been transported to various hospitals.
