The Delhi High Court mandated city police to expedite their investigation into the January stage collapse at Kalkaji temple, which resulted in one fatality. Justice Prathiba M. Singh pointed out that six individuals, including event organizers, have been charge-sheeted, but the Mahant's contradictory statements have hampered progress.
In its latest order, the court highlighted concerns about the temple’s management and directed a surprise visit to evaluate cleanliness and amenities. The Mahant is accused of disregarding judicial rulings by misinterpreting a Supreme Court order, thereby complicating the appointment of the court-designated administrator.
The court emphasized that no future events like 'jagran' should occur without its explicit permission. A follow-up hearing is scheduled for August.
