Man Arrested in Thane for Assault on Mentally Unwell Minor

In a harrowing incident in Ambernath, Thane district, Harish Raju Shengal, 26, has been apprehended for allegedly forcibly kissing and inappropriately touching a 14-year-old mentally unwell girl, a police official revealed on Saturday.

The accused, Shengal, faces serious charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sexual harassment and the use of criminal force against a woman.

According to the Ambernath police station official, the distressing event took place on June 10, when Shengal took the young girl to an isolated room near her residence in Bhuvapada and committed the assault. His arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim's mother.
