A case has been registered by police after a temple was allegedly desecrated by members of a minority community in Thane city, Maharashtra, an official disclosed on Sunday.

The police action was initiated based on a complaint filed by a woman, leading to a first information report under section 295 of the Indian Penal Code, among other provisions. The incident allegedly occurred on June 23 in the Hazuri area.

According to the complaint, a woman was harassed by a member of the minority community at the temple. On the day of the incident, a mob of approximately 150 people reportedly entered the temple premises wearing footwear and caused a disturbance. In response, activists from Sakal Hindu Samaj submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner, demanding strict action against the culprits.
