Editors Guild Demands Full Media Access to Parliament

The Editors Guild of India has called on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to lift media access restrictions for covering parliamentary proceedings, originally enforced due to COVID-19 protocols, and to restore the Press Advisory Committee.

The Editors Guild of India has made a fervent appeal to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, urging the removal of current media access restrictions for covering parliamentary proceedings.

In a communication to Birla, the Guild highlighted that these limitations came into effect during COVID-19 protocols and should now be revoked as the country has moved on from the pandemic.

Expressing concern over the lapse in reconstituting the Press Advisory Committee, initially established in 1929 under Vithalbhai Patel, the Guild implored Dhankhar to allow full access to permanently accredited media personnel, eliminating the need for additional access passes and reducing bureaucratic burdens.
