China Backs Kazakhstan's BRICS Ambitions in Xi Jinping's State Visit

Chinese President Xi Jinping supports Kazakhstan's bid to join the BRICS group. During his visit to Astana, both nations aimed to double their trade volumes. Xi's trip included attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization heads of state meeting from July 3-4.

China's President Xi Jinping said he supports Kazakhstan joining the BRICS group, Chinese state media reported on Wednesday.

The two countries also set a new goal of doubling two-way trade, the report said.

Xi travelled to Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, to attend a heads of state meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization from July 3-4.
