DDA's Potential Demolition Drive in Majnu Ka Tila

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is contemplating a demolition drive in Majnu Ka Tila, adhering to court directives to eradicate encroachments and illegal constructions, sources disclosed on Thursday.

Residents, including Pakistani Hindus, stated they have not yet received any notification from the DDA. However, sources confirmed that a communication will soon be issued. Additionally, the DDA has requested sufficient security measures from the Delhi Police to maintain law and order during the planned drive on Saturday.

In its April 3 order, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) criticized the DDA's status report for lacking significant actions towards removing encroachments. The NGT demanded a compliance report to be submitted via email by July 15, at least one week before the next hearing date.
