Donald Trump's legal team is petitioning a New York judge to overturn his conviction in the hush money case, citing the recent Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity.
Lawyers Todd Blanche and Emil Bove argue that prosecutors hastily pushed for a trial while the Supreme Court was still deliberating on the matter. They claim this prematurely dismissed Trump's immunity claims and insist the court now has the duty to correct these injustices.
Judge Juan M. Merchan will decide on the defense's request by September 6 and has scheduled a sentencing for September 18 if necessary. Prosecutors must respond by July 24.
