National Security Adviser Eduardo Ano firmly stated on Friday that the Philippines rejects any attempts to undermine its national interests through force in the disputed South China Sea. Speaking at a forum on the 8th anniversary of the Permanent Court of Arbitration's ruling, Ano emphasized the need to protect the country's strategic agencies against coercion.

Ano reiterated the Philippines' commitment to peaceful resolution and diplomacy. He underscored the importance of dialogue in addressing and managing difficult issues.

Despite the 2016 ruling declaring China's expansive claims in the South China Sea as baseless, China continues to assert its actions as lawful and does not recognize the verdict.
