Tragic Lift Accident: Housemaid's Death Spurs Demand for Justice

A 43-year-old housemaid, who was trapped in an elevator for approximately 45 minutes in a multi-storey apartment, tragically fell to her death from the third floor to the basement during a rescue attempt, authorities reported.

Identified as Rukmanibai, a resident of Shyam Nagar, she was returning home when the building's lift malfunctioned due to an electricity outage. Her cries for help were heard by women on the same floor, who rushed to assist her.

During the rescue attempt, Rukmanibai lost her balance and plunged into the rainwater-filled basement, where she was later declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
