The body of Harash Nagotra, a youth from a border village in the Akhnoor sector who allegedly ended his life last month by jumping into the Chenab river, was found in Pakistan. The discovery has led his family to seek Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to bring back his remains for last rites.

According to a police official, Nagotra went missing on June 11, and his motorcycle was found on the riverbank. A missing person report was filed the following day. Preliminary investigations suggest Nagotra may have taken his own life after facing a loss of over Rs 80,000 in an online gaming application.

The family received confirmation of his death through a WhatsApp message from a Pakistani official after reactivating Nagotra's SIM card. The message detailed that the body was found in a canal in Sialkot, Punjab province, and had already been buried. The official also sent a photo of Nagotra's identity card to confirm the discovery.

Harash's father, Subash Sharma, expressed his plea for help: 'We request our prime minister to help us get back the body of my son for last rites. We want to perform his last rites as per our religion.'

Nagotra's relative, Amrit Bhushan, mentioned that they have already appealed to the External Affairs Ministry, Home Ministry, and the Prime Minister's Office regarding the matter. 'We are in a state of shock and grief and want his body back. We have also appealed to Pakistani authorities to hand over the body,' Bhushan added.
