Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko cautioned that any expansion of military exercises between the NATO alliance and Japan would heighten tensions, as reported by the TASS state news agency on Monday.
Earlier this month, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida informed Reuters that Russia's increasing military ties with North Korea highlighted the need for Japan to strengthen its relations with NATO, citing intertwining regional security threats.
The comments from both officials underscore a complex and evolving geopolitical landscape in the region, as nations reassess alliances and military strategies.
