Meghalaya's Push for Better Water Security and Sanitation

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma met with officials from the Ministry of Jal Shakti to discuss key projects like the Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), and Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP). The meeting focused on enhancing water security, sanitation, and disaster management in the state.

The discussions centered on the Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP), and flood disaster management. These initiatives are crucial for enhancing water supply, sanitation, and disaster response capabilities in the region.

Notably, DRIP was a focal point, targeting the repair and improvement of old and hazardous dams to strengthen water security. Flood disaster management strategies were also discussed to develop effective relief operations for areas affected by flooding.
