A Delhi court has ordered BRS leader K Kavitha, currently lodged in Tihar jail for her alleged involvement in an excise scam, to be referred to AIIMS for a medical examination.
Kavitha, who was initially taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital after experiencing gynaecological problems and high fever, will now undergo further tests at AIIMS. Kavitha was returned to jail after a brief hospital stay, officials confirmed.
The court's decision comes after Kavitha raised concerns about her health monitoring tools and discrepancies in her medical reports, leading to the adjustment in her custody conditions. Her judicial custody has been extended until July 22, following arrests by the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI in relation to the alleged scam.
