The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused BJP MPs of rendering the poor homeless by orchestrating illegal demolitions through various departments under their control.
Speaking at a press conference, AAP leader and MLA Durgesh Pathak claimed that houses in Civil Lines were unlawfully demolished, leaving long-term residents homeless. He cited a notice from the railways to demolish slums in Brar Square on July 22 and criticized BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj for not addressing the issue.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor countered by accusing AAP of incompetence and claimed that BJP MPs are working to delay slum demolitions while seeking permanent solutions. He referenced recent aggressive demolitions in Civil Lines by the DDA and ongoing threats to demolish more houses. Pathak called for investigations into the motivations behind these actions and urged BJP MPs to take responsibility.
