The ministry claimed the white paper was filled with clichés, arguing that it was merely an excuse to deceive the Japanese public, mislead the global community, and warrant Japan's military buildup and expansion.

China has called on Japan to stop its defamatory accusations and to exercise caution in military and security communications. Released last Friday, Japan's assessment highlighted the potential for increased tension with Taiwan, noting China's uptick in military exercises could be preparation for a possible invasion of the democratically governed island.
