According to her complaint, Gupta had been stalking her since January, often following her on the same bus route. In January, onlookers had intervened and physically restrained Gupta when he attempted to hold her hand, leading to his initial police warning.

However, this month Gupta resumed his stalking. Finally, a case was registered against him at Azad Maidan Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section related to stalking.
