Madhya Pradesh Revises Ex-Gratia Policy for Fallen Police Jawan
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that in the event of a state police jawan dying in duty, the Rs 1 crore ex-gratia will be equally distributed between the wife and parents. This policy change comes after demands for revising next of kin rules following Captain Anshuman Singh's death and subsequent events.

In a significant move, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh announced that the Rs 1 crore ex-gratia given to families of police jawans who die in the line of duty will now be split 50:50 between the deceased's wife and parents.
This decision follows calls for policy revisions by the parents of Captain Anshuman Singh, who died last year while rescuing people from a fire in Siachen. Singh’s parents demanded changes to the 'next of kin' policy after his wife reportedly left their home following his demise.
Currently, the Army's rules prioritize the spouse as the next of kin, making them the sole recipient of such compensations. This policy update aims to address similar issues in the future.
