Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has voiced his support for the contentious directive from Uttar Pradesh police mandating that fruit sellers display their names at stalls along the Kanwar Yatra route.

Responding to press queries, Manjhi highlighted that he saw no issue with the order, emphasizing that it merely helps buyers identify their preferred vendors. He dismissed the opposition's allegations that the directive was communal in nature.

This stance puts Manjhi at odds with other political figures like Chirag Paswan, who condemned the directive as divisive. Interestingly, the directive has not been seen in other states associated with the pilgrimage. Manjhi's comments come amid a backdrop of previous controversies involving remarks critical of certain religious beliefs.
