Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited a state-run hospital in Jharkhand’s capital to meet police assistants injured during a clash with police personnel. The clash occurred as the assistants protested for direct recruitment and a higher honorarium.
Sarma, who is also BJP's election co-incharge for Jharkhand, condemned the baton charge by police on contractual police assistants. The BJP leaders criticized the ruling JMM-led alliance and promised repercussions for these actions.
Union Minister and BJP's election in-charge for Jharkhand, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, declared that BJP would soon form the government in Jharkhand, accusing the JMM government of failing to meet its commitments. Additional assurances and concessions were promised to the protesting assistants by senior police officers.
