Amid heavy rains in Maharashtra, encompassing Mumbai and the coastal Konkan region, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday instructed officials to be on high alert.

Shinde urged the State Disaster Response Force, civic bodies, local administration, and police to stay updated on weather reports from the India Meteorological Department and to plan relief measures accordingly.

He stressed that accident-prone areas should be surveyed, flood control methods adopted, and traffic diverted as necessary. The CM also emphasized the need to regularly inform citizens of IMD updates.

Additionally, Shinde instructed officials to maintain adequate stocks of food, medicine, and relief materials, and to establish temporary shelter camps for both people and animals.
