Ukraine Calls for Long-Range Weapons Amid Rising Russian Drone Attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy renewed his call for long-range weapons to defend against persistent Russian drone and missile attacks. The latest assault targeted multiple regions, including Kyiv, with Ukraine's air defense systems intercepting most of the threats. Zelenskiy emphasized the need for Western allies to support long-range strikes on Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has reiterated his urgent call for long-range weapons to protect cities and frontline troops from continuous Russian drone and missile attacks. The plea came after an extensive overnight assault that saw Ukraine's air defense systems successfully intercept most of the incoming threats.
According to Ukraine's military, Russia launched its fifth drone attack on Kyiv in two weeks, with all airborne threats neutralized before reaching the capital. The Ukrainian air force reported that 35 of the 39 drones, alongside two cruise missiles, were destroyed. However, the exact number of drones aimed at Kyiv remains unclear.
Amid the ongoing attacks, Zelenskiy emphasized the necessity to target Russian bombers at their bases and called for Western allies to lift restrictions on long-range capabilities. His appeal includes convincing NATO members to allow strikes on Russia to better defend against the Russian military threat.
