In the Lok Sabha on Monday, Congress member Dharamvira Gandhi described the Uttar Pradesh government's directive requiring eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display the owners' names as 'divisive.'
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Gandhi called for an immediate rollback of the directive, terming it 'unconstitutional' and 'undemocratic.'
He claimed the directive was part of the BJP's 'divisive agenda' aimed at creating societal fissures for political gains. Gandhi urged that both the Uttar Pradesh and Haridwar SSP directives be rolled back immediately.
In a significant development, the Supreme Court has imposed an interim stay on these directives, questioning their validity.
