Calls for Immediate Aid After Devastating Rains in Maharashtra

Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has urged the Eknath Shinde government to announce a financial package for farmers facing severe crop losses due to heavy rains. Areas like East Vidarbha, Kolhapur, Raigad, Pune, and others have been significantly impacted. Additional precautions are advised for residents in vulnerable regions.

Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Thursday demanded that the Eknath Shinde government promptly announce a financial package for farmers who have experienced extensive crop losses because of heavy rains lashing the state.

Crops across thousands of hectares have been devastated by the torrential rains, Wadettiwar, the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, stated.

Regions such as East Vidarbha, Kolhapur, Raigad, and Pune, as well as localities within Pune city like Bhor Velha, Maval, Haveli, face serious impacts, he noted. Specifically, the situation in Mulshi taluka's Khadakvasla has become especially dire.

Wadettiwar emphasized that residents in Pune and Mumbai living in structurally unsafe buildings should be relocated to safer areas. He also highlighted the need for relief efforts in the districts of Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Wardha in east Vidarbha.

Furthermore, he advised the public to avoid venturing into accident-prone zones during this period of severe weather conditions.
