On July 26, 2024, the Department of Posts released a special commemorative postage stamp to mark the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The ceremony took place in Dras, Kargil, Ladakh, celebrating the 25th anniversary of India's victory in the Kargil War and honoring the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces.

Twenty-five years ago, during Operation Vijay, the Indian Armed Forces displayed unparalleled courage and determination to reclaim the icy heights of Dras, Kargil, and Batalik Sectors in Ladakh from Pakistani intruders. The operation is a powerful testament to the valor and tenacity of Indian soldiers and young officers.

The newly released stamp pays tribute to the heroes of this pivotal conflict. The Kargil War, amplified by the rise of satellite television, brought the courage of our troops into every home across the nation, turning locations such as Kargil, Batalik, Dras, Mashkoh, and Turtuk into symbols of national pride.

Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, emphasized the significance of the stamp, stating, "The launch of this postage stamp to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas is a remarkable tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of our soldiers. It honors their valor and serves as a powerful reminder of their heroism and the spirit of national pride. I congratulate India Post for creating such a meaningful stamp that captures a pivotal moment in our history and encourage all citizens to purchase it as a symbol of our enduring gratitude."
