In a decisive move, the Indian Army successfully foiled an assault by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) in the Kamakari sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Saturday. According to military sources, one soldier, identified as rifleman Mohit Rathour, was killed and four others, including a captain, sustained injuries.

The confrontation began when three intruders crossed the Line of Control (LoC), taking advantage of poor weather and visibility, and launched an attack on a forward Army post. The Indian troops retaliated, leading to an intense gunfight that resulted in the death of one Pakistani intruder, while two others managed to return to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In response to this attack and a recent uptick in terror activities in Jammu, security has been tightened. The Indian government is deploying two BSF battalions, consisting of over 2,000 personnel from Odisha, to bolster security measures in the region. The Indian Army remains committed to maintaining the sanctity of the LoC and thwarting any hostile activities from the Pakistani side.
