Serial Conman Arrested: Man Dupes Over 20 Women Through Matrimonial Sites

The Maharashtra police have arrested Firoz Niaz Sheikh, a 43-year-old man who allegedly married more than 20 women and duped them of their valuables. Sheikh targeted divorcees and widows on matrimonial sites, swindling them in states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Gujarat, since 2015.

The Maharashtra police have detained a 43-year-old man, Firoz Niaz Sheikh, accused of marrying more than 20 women nationwide and defrauding them of their valuables. According to officials, Sheikh was apprehended in Kalyan following a complaint by a Nalla Sopara woman.

Senior Inspector Vijaysingh Bhagal revealed that the accused met the complainant on a matrimonial website and subsequently married her. In October and November 2023, Sheikh took Rs. 6.5 lakh worth of cash, a laptop, and other valuables from her.

Sheikh mainly targeted divorcees and widows, using matrimonial sites to find and cheat them. His activities have spanned various states, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Gujarat, since 2015. Police recovered several stolen items, including a laptop, mobile phones, and jewelry.
