In a recent Niti Aayog meeting in Delhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced her demand for the formation of an India-Bhutan river commission. This commission, she emphasized, is crucial for addressing erosion control and flood mitigation challenges in West Bengal.

Speaking at the assembly, Banerjee also responded to controversial suggestions from BJP leaders who proposed creating a union territory by merging districts from Bengal and Bihar. Additionally, there were talks of integrating north Bengal into the northeast region.

Firmly opposing these proposals, Banerjee declared, “I dare anyone to try to divide Bengal,” highlighting her resolute stance against any attempts to partition the state.
