Hussain is accused of orchestrating a scheme involving shell firms in Jaspur, Udham Singh Nagar district, issuing fake timber invoices to various buyers both within and outside the state, causing a significant revenue loss to both state and central governments.

Arrested on October 22, 2023, following an in-depth investigation by the GST Department, Hussain approached the High Court after his initial bail application was rejected. The court found him guilty of both economic offenses and intimidating witnesses, further justifying the rejection of his bail.
