Senior IPS Officer Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao Suspended for Misconduct
The Odisha government has suspended senior IPS officer Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao for allegedly misusing his position and misbehaving with a woman police inspector and her husband. The Odisha government has taken disciplinary action against senior IPS officer Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao, suspending him for allegations of misuse of power and misconduct. An official statement indicated that Uttamrao, serving as DIG, Fire Services & Home Guards, was accused of misbehaving with a woman police inspector and her husband on July 27.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, upon his return from New Delhi, ordered immediate suspension of the officer. The Home Department issued a notification stating that Uttamrao has been placed under suspension with his headquarters fixed at the state police headquarters, Odisha, Cuttack, pending further disciplinary proceedings.
The Director General of Police submitted a confidential report against Uttamrao, delineating the incident. During the suspension period, Uttamrao will receive a subsistence allowance but must certify he is not engaged in alternative employment. Further actions will follow as the investigation proceeds.
