The Supreme Court on Thursday lambasted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, over allegations of assaulting AAP MP Swati Maliwal earlier this year.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant, Dipankar Datta, and Ujjal Bhuyan questioned what kind of environment was being fostered at the CM's residence, highlighting the severity of the incident. The bench was particularly shocked by the details recorded by the Delhi High Court.
Kumar has challenged a July 12 order from the Delhi High Court, which denied him bail. While the apex court issued notice to the Delhi government, it expressed concerns over possible witness tampering if Kumar were released on bail. An FIR registered against Kumar includes charges of assault and criminal intimidation.
