A judicial commission formed to investigate the murder of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in police custody ruled out any pre-planned conspiracy or police negligence.
The commission's report was presented in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on the last day of the monsoon session on Thursday.
Headed by retired Allahabad High Court Judge Arvind Kumar Tripathi, the commission concluded that the deaths of Ahmed and Ashraf on April 15, 2023, were not the result of a planned conspiracy by state police. The commission also suggested media should exercise caution while covering such events to avoid compromising investigations.
