Lufthansa Cancels Flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut Amid Regional Tensions
Lufthansa Group and Swiss International Air Lines have suspended passenger and cargo flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut due to regional tensions. The suspension will last until at least August 8 for Tel Aviv and August 12 for Beirut. Airlines are reacting to ongoing conflict and security concerns in the region.
Germany's Lufthansa Group and its subsidiary Swiss International Air Lines have immediately cancelled all passenger and cargo flights to and from Tel Aviv, effective through August 8, spokespeople for both airlines announced on Thursday. The suspension is a response to current developments in the region, according to a Lufthansa spokesperson.
In addition, the German airline group has extended the suspension of flights to and from Beirut until August 12. Swiss International is also halting flights from Zurich to both Tel Aviv and Beirut through the same dates, a company spokesperson confirmed.
Several airlines have ceased or suspended flights as Lebanon braces for potential retaliation from Israel after a strike in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights resulted in the deaths of 12 children and teenagers. Hezbollah has denied responsibility for the incident.
