A judicial commission investigating the murder of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf while in police custody has ruled out any 'pre-planned conspiracy' or 'police negligence.'

The commission's findings were presented in the Uttar Pradesh assembly on the final day of the monsoon session.

The five-member commission, led by former Allahabad High Court judge Dilip B Bhosale, examined the April 2023 killings of the two men by assailants posing as journalists during a police escort to a medical checkup.
